„Mein ganzer Körper brennt wie Feuer, alles tut weh! Ich brauche Jesus!“ – mit diesen Worten meldete sich ein Hexendoktor („witch doctor“) am Telefon bei Pastor Otim.
Hexendoktoren gibt es nicht nur bei Harry Potter, sondern auch in Afrika. Einer von ihnen ist uns in Pawor Jesus begegnet. Der Hexendoktor hatte von unserer Evangelisation gehört und wusste, dass Gottes Kraft hier wirkte und Menschen geheilt wurden. Otim machte sich daraufhin sofort auf, um den Mann zu besuchen. Als er für ihn gebetet hatte, hörten alle Schmerzen auf – und er gab sein Leben Jesus!
Schwarze Magie ist eine Realität, die wir im westlichen Europa kaum kennen. Doch in weiten Teilen Afrikas gehört der Hexenmeister zum Dorf, wie anderswo der Hausarzt. Statt Schulmedizin kommen hier jedoch okkulte Rituale, Zauberei, Talismane und Amulette zum Einsatz.
Beim Gebet für die Kranken meldete sich am dritten Abend Winnie: Das elfjährige Mädchen war von ihrem dritten Lebensjahr an völlig taub – doch Gott öffnete ihre Ohren! Als sie sprach, merkte man, dass sie auf dem Niveau einer Dreijährigen war; schließlich konnte sie acht Jahre lang nicht hören und somit auch ihre Sprache nicht weiter entwickeln.
Okumukea berichtete einen Tag später von seiner Heilung: Vor 20 Jahren hatte er einen Unfall und hatte seitdem chronische Rückenschmerzen, doch nach dem Gebet war er völlig geheilt.
Bereits im Vorfeld redete Gott zu einem unserer Teammitglieder: Große Widerstände werden auf uns zukommen. Kein Wunder im Rückblick! Denn Gott hat stark gewirkt und mehrere hundert Menschen haben ihr Leben Jesus gegeben, wurden geheilt und befreit. Der Widerstand kam: Unsere Veranstaltung fand auf dem Fußballfeld statt, das noch zu einer Schule gehörte. Obwohl uns der Direktor die Erlaubnis gegeben hatte, hier mehrere Tage zu predigen, schrieb uns der Vorstand der Schule einen Brief: Wir müssen unverzüglich aufhören mit unserer Veranstaltung. Widerstand ist ein gutes Zeichen dafür, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind! Gott sei Dank, löste sich auch dieses Problem.
